Balmoral Park was a harness racing track in Crete, Illinois. It held many different events, and I had a lot of fun creating the promotional pieces. From beer festivals to taco eating contests, every event had it’s unique personality to work around. These are some of my favorites.

Super Night was Balmoral Park’s biggest night of racing. From posters and flyers to VIP invitations, everything had to be designed to entice patrons to come, watch and bet on the horses.
The Fall Beer Festival was just one of many beer events held at the track. I designed the logo and promotional pieces for this one to be reminiscent of German Oktoberfests.
The American Nationals was one of the biggest nights of racing in the nation. The harness racing world turned their eyes to Balmoral Park for this night of huge purses, so the designs had to create excitement for the event.
Balmoral Park released a calendar featuring photographs from the previous year, coupons to redeem and their racing dates. Creating an old-time photograph feel with the grainy edges and vignette lent a nostalgic look to the calendar.
Just one of the fun events for the non-racing fans at Balmoral Park, Pepe’s Taco Eating Contest was a partnership with a local restaurant. Getting to design the materials for this event was a fun departure because I was able to play with the two partners’ styles to create something unique for the contest.
Music in the summers was a guarantee at the track. There was a Miller Lite Saturday Nite music series, but the Dueling Pianos was a standout among those. This particular one fell on Independence day, so I got to take that theme and give it a musical twist.
